Altera Recruitment Group is recruiting a versatile and proactive Business Support Technician for one of their Power Generation clients. This dynamic role requires a hands-on professional who can operate across multiple departments, including operations, maintenance, and fuel handling, providing front-line support to ensure the plant runs efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver operational and maintenance support across mechanical, electrical, control, and instrumentation disciplines, contributing to plant availability and reliability targets.
* Conduct routine inspections, operational checks, fault diagnosis, and minor repairs in line with agreed maintenance plans and CMMS procedures.
* Support the fuel handling team in daily operations, including supervision, first-line maintenance, and adherence to safety and environmental standards.
* Assist in the management of spare parts inventory, ensuring availability to support operational continuity.
* Uphold health, safety, and environmental policies, participate in site HSE initiatives, and contribute to incident investigations to embed learning across the site.
Candidate Requirements
* ONC, City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant craft skill, with substantial practical maintenance experience.
* Proven experience in mechanical or EC&I maintenance within industrial or process plant environments, preferably within biomass or thermal power sectors.
* Competence in operating forklifts, telescopic handlers, overhead cranes, and traffic management or weighbridge systems.
* Strong IT literacy, including CMMS systems, Excel, and report writing; excellent communication skills in English.
* Full UK driving licence and demonstrable ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and take ownership of responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
What’s on Offer
* Competitive salary of £31,000–£35,000 per annum, subject to experience.
* Standard hours of 40 per week (day shifts) with call-out support on a best endeavours basis, paid at 1.5× for a minimum of four hours.
