JOB SUMMARY:The LPN is responsible for rendering nursing care in assigned area in terms of individualized client needs, according to dependent and independent nursing functions and conformance with the highest recognized nursing techniques, procedures, and established standards based on the scope of practical nursing, under the direction/delegation of the Registered Nurse.
This position requires the Healthcare Professional (HCP) to be able to respond to last minute, emergency and disaster needs as well as long term staffing agreements.
REPORTS TO:Responsible to the charge nurse/supervisor on the specific unit of assignment
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:

Must adhere to all local, State and Federal regulationsComputer experience, ability to participate in electronic self schedulingAbility to fill last minute needs – less than 12 hours noticeKnowledge of the terminology, theory, techniques and practices of professional nursingKnowledge of medicines along with their effects, side effects and contraindicationsAbility to communicate through electronic methodsAbility to handle a heavier patient loadAbility to work with minimal orientationKnowledge of machines and specialized equipment for special proceduresKnowledge to establish effective working relationships with physicians, patients and fellow workersKnowledge to analyze facts and conditions and apply sound nursing principles in making decisionsKnowledge to follow technical procedures, use good judgment and utilize proper measures in the care of patientsKnowledge and ability to handle emergency situationsKnowledge to take charge of Code Blue situations until the physician arrivesEvidence of BLS credentialsCurrent, valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse license in State of practiceOne year of nursing experience with six months of experience in area of specialty applyingESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:
Performs specific treatments as ordered by the physician and under the supervision of the Registered NurseConducts individual patient assessment, prioritizing the data collection based on patient’s condition or needs within timeframe specified by the client facility’s policies, procedures and protocolsConducts ongoing assessments as determined by age-specific assessment of patientAdministers prescribed medication within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act in the state of practiceObserves, reports, and records adverse reactions to medications and/or treatments to the Registered Nurse or PhysicianPerforms appropriate treatments as ordered by the physician and under the supervision of the Registered NurseCollects and labels specimens as ordered by physician from patients for testing following client facility’s policies, procedures and protocolsAssists patient with personal care, ambulation, positioning and feeding, while performing basic nursing careDocuments patient assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention and progressInitiates emergency resuscitation measures according to protocolReports patient condition to appropriate personnel during each shift while maintaining patient confidentialityPerforms all skills, treatments and procedures competently according to the scope of practice as defined in the Nurse Practice Act in the state of practice and adhering to the policies, procedures and protocols of the client facilityGENERAL
