Position: Assistant Director-Residence Life

Assist with supervision of residence halls and administration of residence life activities. Facilitate community development that enhances student success and growth. Responsible for overseeing residence hall occupancy, managing auxiliary services, supervising hall facilities and furnishings. May coordinate conference and guest housing, maintain financial records and prepare reports. Act as a primary point of contact for residential students. May specialize in one of the following areas: (1) Staff Recruitment and Selection, (2) Staff Training and Development, (3) Staff Programming, (4) Student Leadership Development or (5) Operations.

May receive room and board at the residence hall as part of the employment package.

Examples of Work Performed

Supervision of and advising RHA to develop student leaders within the residential experience.

Assists in overseeing residence hall occupancy, managing auxiliary services, supervising hall facilities and furnishings.

Assist with staff recruitment and selection, staff training and development, staff programming, and student leadership development.

RA training and development, Living Learning Communities, hall programming and a personalized approach to student development and success for each student in housing.

Provide parent engagement efforts to increase parent awareness and involvement.

Will assist with coordinating conference and guest housing, maintain financial records and prepare reports. Will participate in day-to-day operations of the residential area and department.

Provide professional presence, as live-in ADRL, including emergency situations as needed and summer support.

Participate in an on-call emergency duty rotation throughout the year (evenings and weekends), including academic breaks. Duty support includes student support and physical response to situations.

Promote and build a sense of community while fostering effective communication within a diverse population of students.

Develop first generation student programming, initiatives, and support.

Will provide leadership to an undergraduate staff of RA’s and Living Learning Communities.

Attend required student staff training as arranged through the Residence Life and Student Life.

Apply system and campus policies, procedures and regulations in the residence halls; report maintenance, safety/security, and custodial concerns and matters through established processes.

Participate and contribute in broader Student Life programs, events, and initiatives, including Orientation and Welcome Week.

Other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Activities and Programs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in student activities, intramural/club sports, or residence life preferred.

Valid Driver’s License is preferred.
