- Assist the Product Manager in the procurement of steel products, including but not limited to: coil, plates, sheets, bars, and tubes.
- Monitor and track inventory levels, lead times, and pricing trends to ensure adequate supply and competitive pricing.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchasing activities in purchasing system/ERP.
- Work with the logistics department to coordinate the shipment of goods and ensure efficient inventory management.
- Design truck routes to multiple geographic areas throughout the country.
- Dispatch both employee and commercial drivers within the TMW System.
- Work closely with branch sales, dispatchers, and management to compile loads according to many factors, including but not limited to delivery date, types of products, customer expectations, delivery time and DOT regulations that apply to the loading or delivery process.
- Rerouting and collaborating with drivers to move and achieve maximum amount of efficiency between stops.
- Perform clerical tasks, data entry, answer phone calls, and respond and resolve issues that come up.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
Education and Experience:
- Experience working with routing, purchasing, or inventory management software preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or a related field preferred.
- Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Typical office environment with minimal exposure to loud noise.
- Over 2/3 of work time sitting, working on computer, using keyboard, talking on the telephone. Bending, twisting, typing using fine motor skills, using hands and fingers up to 8 hours per day.
- Over 2/3 of work time will also be spent communicating verbally and in writing.
