Job Description

FSP is looking for a Fire Alarm Technician in the Fire and Safety Industry who is responsible for programming, testing, and maintaining fire alarm systems. The ideal candidate may start as a Senior Fire Alarm Technician or advance to this level with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Designing and programming fire alarm systems to meet client needs, including selecting appropriate equipment and configuring the system to meet local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Testing and troubleshooting fire alarm systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Collaborating with project managers, technicians, and other stakeholders to keep projects within budget, on schedule, and meeting client satisfaction.
  • Providing technical support to clients and colleagues, answering questions, troubleshooting issues, and training as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate records of work, labor and materials costs, and preparing reports.
  • Keeping up-to-date with changes in fire alarm codes, regulations, and new technologies.
  • Ensuring all work complies with local, state, and federal codes and industry best practices.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to all safety protocols.
Minimum Requirements
  • Experience in fire alarm system programming, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with specialized software and equipment and knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing these systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Completion of a degree or certification program in a related field preferred.
  • Physical ability to perform the requirements of the job (see Physical Requirements).
Physical Requirements
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet; working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends.
  • Travel overnight may be required.
