General PurposeThe Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly “hello,” treats fellow associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks as assigned during all working hours and may also be requested to perform additional tasks as needed.
EssentialFunctions
- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment, keep emergency exits clutter‑free, and immediately correct or report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greet each customer with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly “hello” throughout the store.
- Assist customers by providing merchandise assistance, answering questions, and handling register transactions politely.
- Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customer Service calls; handle all customer issues in a courteous and helpful manner, calling a member of the Store Leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas to maintain merchandise, customer and team areas.
- Adhere to the Company’s dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
- Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery per company best practice to ensure a neat, clean and organized store.
- Expedite newly received merchandise receipts with urgency, merchandise per company best practice and monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understand Loss Prevention Awareness program and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguard confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follow all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies, properly process each piece, and notify Store Leadership for disposals.
- Follow all cash, check, charge card and refund transaction procedures; maintain high accuracy when handling bankable tenders.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency to efficiently perform the role and maximize productivity by executing store best practices.

- Effectively communicate with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC.
- Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
- Associates who work stockroom shifts may be required to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
