WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Production Designer II utilizes both 2D and 3D design tools in our Norcross, GA facility. This role translates architectural intent—guided by shop drawings or Pre Con design development—into detailed drawings and Bills of Materials that accurately represent specified products and systems for manufacturing.

  • Create detailed production drawings with clear standards and protocols with 3‑D models
  • Be knowledgeable of the manufacturing department manuals and training material for the production drawing team.
  • Proficient in creating and maintaining component and drawing libraries
  • Utilize production drawing and mockup reports to track productivity, analyze delays, evaluate, and resolve potential obstacles to completion of tasks.
  • Prepare and check high-level production drawings for fabrication (internal and external vendors) with detailed component and assembly drawings.
  • Understanding of production drawings, e.g., standards, tolerances, machine capabilities, etc.
  • Thoroughly review and QC production drawings and provide feedback to the production design team and Management as needed to ensure successful deliverables.
  • Communicate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to identify the root cause of design/fabrication issues and propose solutions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to evaluate product prototypes and the feasibility of production; initiate prototypes or mockups and test as needed for new products or custom/complex projects.
  • Work cross‑functionally with Sales, R&D, product management, manufacturing, and Quality to develop processes for new products and improve processes for existing products.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen by understanding the industry, monitoring competition, and participating in trade organizations such as CISCA.
  • Seek opportunities to promote company growth and improvement.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Project Managers.
  • Develop detailed designs using Solid Works with minimum supervision.
  • Must have good communication skills with a variety of cross‑functional team members.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering
  • Must have Solid Works Experience, Proficiency in 2D and 3D design tools and software (Solid Works / Inventor / Rhino / AutoCAD)
  • 3+ years of proven experience managing complex projects in a manufacturing or construction environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Strong background in metal fabrication processes (punching, bending, assembly)
  • Ability to read construction drawings and perform takeoffs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software and possess working knowledge of databases
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
