Position: Staff Attorney (Gwinnett County Office)

Overview

Atlanta Legal Aid Society (“Legal Aid”) seeks a Staff Attorney for its Gwinnett County Office. The Gwinnett County office is located in Peachtree Corners. The staff currently consists of a managing attorney, 6 full-time attorneys, 5 paralegals, and support staff. Attorneys represent low-income persons in a wide variety of civil matters, including family, housing, public benefits, consumer, and education law. This position also includes working at least one day each week in our advice clinic at the Gwinnett County Courthouse, where the attorney will provide advice and brief services.

Qualifications
  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia and a minimum of 2 years of experience in family law are required.
  • Experience in other civil areas, including housing or consumer law, is preferred.
  • Applicants must possess excellent legal writing skills, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Applicants must have the ability to work effectively in both team and individual settings, adaptability, and an appreciation for diversity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to public service and prior work with low-income people is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in languages other than English, particularly Spanish, is highly valued.
Salary and Benefits
  • The salary is $63,350
    , but it will vary depending on work experience. Salaries are reviewed and adjusted annually, depending on funding.
  • Generous fringe benefits, including 16 paid holidays in 2026, 6 weeks of paid time off (accruing at 2.5 days per month) in the first two years, and 6 weeks of parental leave (12 weeks after one year).
  • Individual health insurance, including optional dental and vision coverage, with partial payment for dependent health insurance.

  • Salary reduction option for a flexible spending account.
  • Educational loan reimbursement up to $600 per month (after a set off of other loan reimbursement amounts).
