The Electronics Technical Support Specialist provides frontline technical support for Mission Communications’ cellular‑based SCADA monitoring systems used in the water and wastewater industry. This role is responsible for troubleshooting hardware, connectivity, and cloud‑based software issues while delivering exceptional customer service to field technicians, contractors, and utility personnel. The Specialist resolves routine to moderately complex technical issues and escalates advanced or systemic issues to the Technical Support Lead when necessary.
This is a full‑time, hybrid position. Participation in on‑call and overnight rotations is required.
Essential Functions- Provide frontline technical support for Mission Communications’ cellular‑based SCADA monitoring systems, including RTUs, PLCs, electronic hardware, and cloud‑based software.
- Assist field technicians and utility customers with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware and connectivity issues.
- Diagnose and resolve routine to moderately complex hardware, cellular, and portal‑related issues.
- Manage assigned support tickets, ensuring timely resolution and accurate documentation in the ticketing system.
- Escalate complex or recurring issues to the Technical Support Lead with appropriate detail.
- Process RMAs and assist with warranty and non‑warranty parts orders.
- Proactively contact customers regarding communication failures or system alerts.
- Participate in scheduled on‑call rotations, including after‑hours and weekend support.
- Required to participate in on‑call rotations and after‑hours support.
- Support cross‑functional collaboration with Sales, Operations, and Engineering as needed.
- Assist with basic reporting, setup documentation, and internal administrative tasks.
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing technical training.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support team operations.
- High school diploma or GED required;
Associate’s degree Electronics, Communications, Networking, IT, or related technical field preferred. - 5 years of experience in electronics repair, technical support, field service, telecommunications, cable/networking/DSL, or related hands‑on technical and troubleshooting roles.
