The IT & Systems Manager is responsible for owning the IT operations, to include the planning, implementing, and supporting of the information technology systems that enable the company’s field operations, project teams, and corporate functions. This role serves as the primary IT leader for the organization, balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution in a fast-paced civil construction environment.

The ideal candidate is a practical problem-solver with experience supporting both field and office personnel, managing vendors, and delivering reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions aligned with business needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • In tandem with outside service provider, oversee day-to-day IT support, including troubleshooting, system maintenance, and issue resolution
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT systems, infrastructure, and user support across office and field environments
  • Develop a practical IT roadmap aligned with company growth and operational needs
  • Recommend scalable, user-friendly technology solutions that support field productivity and data integrity
  • Ensure reliable operation of networks, servers, hardware, and mobile devices
  • Manage user access, onboarding/offboarding, and role-based system permissions
  • Support and optimize core business systems such as ERP, project management, document control, timekeeping/ HR, estimating, and scheduling platforms
  • Coordinate system upgrades, implementations, integrations, and data migrations
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity controls, including endpoint protection, backups, access controls, and incident response procedures
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual IT requirements, and applicable data protection standards
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity IT plans
  • Manage relationships with IT vendors, service providers, and software partners
  • Negotiate contracts, licensing, and support agreements
  • Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions appropriate for a scaling organization
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify technology needs and improve workflows
  • Stay current on construction-industry technology trends and emerging best practices

Qualifications, Experience & Core Competencies

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related; equivalent experience maybe considered
  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience, including infrastructure, applications, and end-user support
  • Experience managing IT in a small to mid-sized organization, preferably within construction, engineering, or field-based operations
  • Strong understanding of networks, cloud services, cybersecurity fundamentals, business applications, and the integration of AI enhancements
  • Proven ability to manage vendors and work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred

  • Experience supporting construction ERP and project management platforms (e.g. Viewpoint, Procore, HCSS, or similar)
  • Familiarity with mobile device management (MDM) and jobsite connectivity solutions
