JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as work crew supervisor / foreman during the on-site development, installation and cleanup of Weatherization or other construction projects.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Perform as on-site working supervisor of a construction/weatherization crew. Meet production schedules and quality standards for assigned project.

* Maintain required documentation for all materials and labor used to complete each assigned home/project. This includes day to day record of material usage, labor hours / time sheets and local purchases.

* Assist the Project Supervisor in providing accountability and security of materials, equipment and supplies. May be assigned to inventory the bulk materials delivery upon arrival at the work site.

* Insure work site is clean upon completion of work. Insures all trash is disposed of properly.

* Provide on the job training as required and assists the Project Supervisor in providing community training workshops. Maintain a safe work environment by providing aggressive oversight to minimize work place hazards; ensuring workers receive appropriate safety training and consistently monitor work crews to ensure safety rules are being followed

* Conduct client intake to establish applicant income eligibility.

* Perform home assessments under the supervision of a Project Supervisor. Assist in developing the project work plan and master materials list.

* Reports to Project Supervisor.

* May be assigned to different project locations during the construction season to support production and labor needs as required.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

WORK

ACTIVITIES:

* Agency is a mandated tobacco, drug and alcohol-free workplace.

* Must be in good general health and free from serious back injury, serious physical and mental health problems and excessive use of alcohol or other drugs

* Spend up to two months at a time in the field.

* Must know proper lifting techniques and be able to lift 70 lbs.

* Able to endure work fluctuations, deadlines, and interruptions.

* Must be able to work weekends, and long hours during peak work periods.

* Capable of enduring variable outdoor temperatures and working conditions.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time, temporary position. Days and hours of work vary with location. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED

EDUCATION:

* Must be at least 18 years of age.

* State and federal background checks, including fingerprints, may be required.

* High school diploma or GED.

* Four (4) years carpentry experience in residential construction and/or Weatherization as a Weatherization Technician, of which at least one year must have been at the Foreman level.

* Knowledge and experience in the transportation of bulk material orders to rural Alaska.

* Able to function without direct supervision.

* Ability to work with, supervise, and relate to people of different cultures.

* Able to be self directed in problem solving and decision making.

* Able to spend up to two (2) months in rural Alaska at a time during summer season. Occasional travel at other times is required.

* Must keep all matters concerning participants in strictest confidence as required by HIPAA privacy and the 42 CFR, Part II confidentiality regulations.

* Must be able to provide own transportation to meet work schedule requirements.

* Must have a valid driver's License and maintain a valid driver's license throughout the course of employment. Must provide a copy of current driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles annually.

* Agency recommends annual TB screening and physical as part of employee's personal wellness

* plan. (Recommendation - Not a requirement of this position)

PREFERRED

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Thorough knowledge of residential building and Weatherization materials, methods, and technology.

* Certified as a Weatherization Tech.

* Journeyman electrician and/or journeyman plumber.

* Knowledge of public service programs.

* Bilingual in Alaska Native languages and dialects.
