• Maintain state highways, airports, seaplane floats, bridges, and docks to ensure safe and operable conditions, including snow and ice control, pavement repair, brushing, drainage, and traffic control, such as flagging.
• Operate and maintain a variety of light and heavy equipment such as plow trucks, loaders, graders, sweepers, and specialized airport vehicles.
• Perform airport operations tasks including runway inspections, friction testing, issuing NOTAMs, and ensuring FAA certification compliance.
• Provide Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) support, including stand‑by duties, training, certification, and equipment maintenance.
• Conduct airport security and wildlife management activities in compliance with FAA, TSA, and State regulations.

This position is located in Nome, Alaska. The role offers a dynamic, fast‑paced work environment with varied responsibilities and conditions. You will work both independently and as part of a team, often in challenging weather, terrain, and remote locations. Regular travel to rural communities within the region is required, and work schedules will be determined based on operational needs.
