The Intern, Generation will provide assistance to the Power Generation division by maintaining, upgrading, and analyzing power generation in the power plants. Additionally, this position will be responsible for analyzing power cycles and researching historical data for planning studies and cost estimations. This internship offers an opportunity to become familiar with Generation electrical and mechanical drawings, including One-line and three-line diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDS), associated with power plant equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the planning and execution of maintenance on turbines and associated systems.
- Support capital projects and equipment upgrade initiatives related to power generation assets.
- Perform cycle efficiency and heat rate analyses on power generation cycles.
- Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency by identifying areas of opportunity and sharing recommendations with management.

Internal

Confer with, give and receive information.
External
- No regular contact or communication with external individuals or entities.
- Knowledge of power generation, transmission and distribution concepts and system operations.
- Knowledge of power plant theory, systems and equipment.
- Ability to review and apply system conditions to system database development.
- Demonstrated ability to organize workflow, manage multiple priorities and effectively utilize resources.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to communicate technical data to a variety of non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to uphold ethical and professional conduct.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Work is performed in a standard office environment with fieldwork required. Some evening and weekend work may be required occasionally.
Job Related QualificationsEducation:
Completion of collegiate level course work in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, required. Course work with power system emphasis, preferred.
Experience:
One (1) year previous work experience.
