About the Opportunity
We are hiring on behalf of a client — a leading fintech company operating at scale across rural and semi-urban India, in the agent-led payments and financial distribution space. The company has a significant PAN India presence and works through a trusted, ground-up agent network to deliver payments and financial products to the last mile.
Role Overview
The Chief Sales Officer will own and scale the company's PAN India network business across rural and semi-urban cities, towns and villages. This includes redesigning the distribution blueprint, running disciplined ground execution, and driving multi-product revenue impact through field leadership and a Trusted Agent Network.
Key Responsibilities
Define state, zone, district and block-level coverage strategy and determine agent density per population and demand cluster
Lead agent network acquisition, onboarding and activation with a focus on quality and lifetime value; manage dormancy and reactivation
Drive revenue across platforms
Appoint, evaluate and manage the distributor ecosystem — margins, motivation and operational readiness
Build and lead the full field organization across Zonal, State, District, Cluster and Block levels; own hiring, performance and leadership pipeline
Set and deliver annual, quarterly and monthly distribution plans with aggressive yet realistic targets
Drive disciplined weekly and monthly review cadence; ensure reporting reflects ground truth
Create recovery strategies for underperforming geographies and build share-of-business in competitive markets
What We're Looking For
15–20+ years in rural or semi-urban distribution leadership
Proven track record managing multi-layer field organisations at scale
Strong background in one or more sectors:
Fintech / Payments, Banking Correspondent networks, Microfinance distribution, Telecom rural distribution, or FMCG rural channels
Deep, hands-on understanding of hinterland India — not just exposure
Strong distributor management experience with discipline in review and performance control
High tolerance for field complexity and extensive travel across districts
