Role Overview
The Career Counselor is responsible for guiding students in making informed academic and career decisions by helping them understand their strengths, interests, and future pathways. The role involves regular local travel to schools to deliver in-school counselling services, workshops, and stakeholder interactions, working closely with students, parents, teachers, and school leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Student Counselling & Guidance
Conduct one-to-one and group career counselling sessions for students (Classes 8–12) at school campuses.
Support students with stream selection, subject choices, and post-school pathways.
Help students develop self-awareness around strengths, interests, skills, and learning preferences.
Assist students in setting realistic academic and career goals.
Assessments & Reporting
Administer and interpret career-related assessments.
Prepare clear, student- and parent-facing counselling notes and recommendations.
Maintain accurate, confidential student records and session documentation.
Parent & School Engagement
Conduct parent counselling sessions and orientation programs, both in-person and online.
Coordinate with school coordinators, teachers, and leadership during school visits.
Career Education & Exposure
Facilitate career awareness workshops, classroom sessions, and assemblies port career fairs, industry talks, and exposure activities as required.
Share updated information on education pathways, skill-based careers, and emerging fields.
Travel & Operational Responsibilities
Travel locally to assigned schools as per the counselling schedule.
Ensure punctuality, preparedness, and professional conduct during school visits.
Professional Practice
Stay updated on education systems, entrance pathways, and workforce trends.
Follow ethical counselling practices and a student-centric approach.
Contribute to internal training, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
Postgraduate qualification in Psychology, Counselling, Education, or a related field (preferred).
Formal training or certification in Career Guidance / Counselling (desirable).
Experience
0–5 years of experience in career counselling, education, or student guidance.
Freshers with relevant training and strong communication skills may be considered.
Skills & Attributes
Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.
Comfort with working across multiple school environments.
Empathy, patience, and professionalism.
Basic digital skills for reports and online sessions.
Additional Notes
Local travel expenses will be reimbursed as per company policy.
A personal conveyance may be preferred, depending on location.
