About the Role
We are seeking a strategic and creative Head – Podcasts to lead and scale the podcast vertical for our digital platform. This role will be responsible for building a strong podcast portfolio around news, current affairs, and insightful conversations while driving audience growth across audio and video podcast platforms.
The ideal candidate will bring deep editorial expertise, strong storytelling skills, and experience in building high-impact podcast formats that resonate with digital audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute the overall podcast strategy for the digital vertical.
Conceptualize and launch high-quality podcast series across news, politics, business, culture, and in-depth conversations.
Lead end-to-end podcast production, including editorial planning, scripting, recording, editing, and publishing.
Build and manage a portfolio of flagship podcast shows for both audio and video platforms
Collaborate closely with editorial, video, and social media teams to ensure podcasts align with the overall newsroom content strategy.
Identify and secure high-profile guests, experts, and thought leaders for podcast interviews and discussions.
Drive audience growth and engagement across platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, You Tube, and other podcast distribution platforms.
Use audience insights and analytics to optimize content performance and discoverability.
Lead and mentor a team of podcast producers, editors, and guest coordinators.
Stay updated on global podcast trends, formats, and innovations to keep the platform competitive.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong editorial judgment with a deep understanding of news and current affairs.
Proven experience in podcast production and audio storytelling.
Ability to conceptualize high-impact and scalable podcast formats.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Understanding of digital distribution platforms, audience analytics, and content growth strategies.
Excellent communication, storytelling, and content planning skills.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or a related field.
Minimum 10–15+ years of experience in journalism, digital media, podcasting, broadcast media, or content platforms.
Proven experience in launching or leading podcast initiatives in a media or digital organization.
Success Metrics (KPIs)
Growth in podcast listens, subscribers, and engagement across platforms.
Development of successful flagship podcast formats.
Expansion of the podcast audience and content portfolio.
Strength of guest line-up and editorial impact.
Preferred Background
Candidates from news organizations, digital media platforms, podcast networks, broadcast television, or OTT content platforms will be preferred.
