Junior Accountant

Role Overview :  Acting as check point in deadline-driven production process, responsible for preparing client data and ensuring accurate initial calculations. Manging the day-to-day processing of financial data across bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, and tax

Experience : 4 - 5 years

Key Responsibilities:

Preparation & Documentation:  Complete compliance work, fill out necessary checklists, and document any queries for review
Bookkeeping:  Categorise transactions to correct nominal codes, reconcile bank accounts so they balance exactly, and process expense claims
VAT & Tax Returns:  Extract data from bookkeeping software to prepare 9-box VAT returns. Prepare tax computations in tax software and calculate Class 2/4 NIC and student loan repayments
Annual Accounts:  Import trial balances, make year-end adjustments (accruals, prepayments, depreciation), and prepare statutory accounts alongside Corporation Tax computations
Payroll Processing:  Calculate monthly payroll (gross to net via tax codes), generate payslips, and submit RTI filings (FPS/EPS) to HMRC
Client Management:  Request necessary access to client software and chase clients to complete tax return questionnaires
