Job Description:
The Building People, LLC has an open position for an HVAC Engineer I. The HVAC Engineer I is responsible for assisting the Engineer Tech 1 for the efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems for the assigned property(s). Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe working environment, performing rounds, conducting routine assessments, and performing day‑to‑day preventive and corrective maintenance for assigned properties.
- Assist Engineer 1 and other staff as needed.
- Use hand tools, portable metalworking tools, electrical, welding equipment, mechanical components and equipment.
- Maintain operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing equipment and systems, including clean and safe work environment, performing rounds, conducting routine assessments, and day‑to‑day preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Inspect engine room equipment, fan room equipment, cooling towers, motors, house pumps, electrical rooms, backup generators, fire pumps, sump pumps, and ejector pumps.
- Level 1 & 2 EPA certification.
- Commercial HVAC/R Journeyman level training/certification at a college/trade school.
- Ability to perform duties of General Maintenance 1.
- Two years of experience (education/trade schools may substitute one year of experience).
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record with periodic checks (where applicable).
- English speaking and communicating skills.
- Basic computing skills (Outlook, Excel & Word).
- Federal government experience is a plus.
- Maximo experience.
- Background screening and clearance may be required directly from the Government.
Telework arrangements are subject to change based on customer requirements. All positions require a background check after acceptance of our offer. The selected candidate will be eligible to begin employment before the background check has been finalized; however, continued employment will be contingent upon the results of the reference/background check.
