General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. The Area Supervisor ensures proper merchandise presentation, a clean work area, and execution of Company operational processes.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviours in everything they do.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone.
- Immediately correct or report any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
- Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, daily trash removal, EAS devices, Cash Office security, and armored carrier pick‑ups.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Ensure customer safety, including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and other leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the Company Dress Code, and ensure Associates adhere to it.
- Keep all areas of the Store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Handle daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to Company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per Company best practice.
- Be responsible for receiving merchandise trucks when needed.
- Process all merchandise with urgency.
- Handle receipt of all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all Stockrooms.
- Help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor after processing.
- Ensure any back‑stock is secured and processed per Company policy.
- Merchandise each department, including back stock.
- Reduce loss due to damage.
- Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in the assigned area.
- Execute floor moves and signing, including promotional signing as needed.
- Perform re‑wraps as required.
- Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and be responsible for Store Loss Prevention, including a strong presence on the sales floor.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions with Associates and Customers, safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Maintain the Public View Monitor (PVM) system properly.
