The Registered Nurse Team Lead assists in planning, facilitating, and managing the activities of the designated department while providing direct patient care and serving as a trusted resource for other team members. This particular position is a registered nurse with the knowledge, skills, and passion for treating patients using a combination of surgical skill and high-tech equipment. This position monitors the training needs of staff and plans or develops training to increase the skills of the team for robotic procedures.
This RN Surgery Lead also monitors and manages the robotic procedures schedule, troubleshoots equipment issues and assists in team assignments based on competency. As a registered nurse, the role may scrub or circulate as needed.
- Provide and/or share patient care with other staff members and providers partnering with other disciplines to ensure that planning and implementation of care is coordinated and collaborative in nature.
- Oversee set up of Robot for surgical procedures.
- Assist with making appropriate room assignments appropriate to the case and the skill level of team members.
- Supervise the preparation and positioning of patients along with team
- Use and troubleshoot robotic and other medical equipment safely and effectively pre-, post- and during procedures to carry out nursing interventions.
- Ensure education documentation is complete for all team members trained on robotic procedures.
- Work in conjunction with central scheduling and surgical office schedules to avoid double booking and maximize the clinical staff time and equipment use.
- Partner with the surgeon team to identify appropriate patient positioning, needed supplies and any other requirements needed for their procedures.
- Promotes excellence in nursing through collaboration with key personnel to determine learning needs of staff.
- Supports team members in achieving professional development and opportunities for advancement by identifying learning needs and developing and delivering/planning in-services and additional education specific to robotics.
- Provide and/or share patient care with other staff members and providers partnering with other disciplines to ensure that planning and implementation of care is coordinated and collaborative in nature.
- Consistently and clearly document to ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum:
Associate Degree from an accredited school of Nursing - Preferred:
Bachelor of Science from an accredited school of Nursing
- Minimum:
Three (3) years of area appropriate clinical experience and current experience in the role of the charge nurse - Preferred:
Two (2) or more years of charge nurse
- Registered Nurse valid to practice in the state of Indiana
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Association)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (American Heart Association)
