Proposal Engineer, Sales Engineer

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Proposal Engineer to develop technical proposals, provide customer support, and drive pre-sales projects for INDEX machines across North America.

As a Proposal Engineer, you’ll combine technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and customer focus to create accurate, competitive machine quotations and proposals. You will work closely with sales teams, internal departments, and customers to ensure solutions meet manufacturing needs and project requirements.

In this role, you will:

• Develop machine quotations and technical proposals, including cycle time studies and detailed part processes, using tools like MS Office, Camos, INDEX Virtual Machine, TRAUB Win Flex, Siemens NX, and AutoCAD
• Manage pre-sales projects from start to finish: understand customer challenges, develop solutions, coordinate internal and external resources, obtain 3rd party quotations when needed, and maintain documentation in line with ISO 9001 standards
• Maintain and communicate schedules and task loads in the CRM to ensure smooth collaboration with internal teams and customers
• Support Regional Sales Managers and Inside Sales with technical, commercial, and sales-related issues
• Present technical information and conduct training during sales and marketing events
• Regularly engage with customers, remotely or in-person, to ensure proposed solutions meet their manufacturing goals
• Collaborate with other departments and INDEX Werke to provide consistent internal and external support

Qualifications

• Experience with cycle time studies and metal cutting
• Quoting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
• Experience with metal cutting is required
• Experience with turn mills and sliding head stock machines is a plus
