Special Education High Needs/Behavior Teacher - Grades 7-8 Primary Tasks & Major Activities
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Provide direct, specialized instruction for students grades 7-8.
- Perform student individualized assessment and interpretation.
- Teach life skills, academic skills, and exhibit strong behavior management skills.
- Attend and participate in appropriate and relevant meetings and staffings.
- Initiate and complete required paperwork within established timelines.
- Collaborate with staff and individuals regarding student programming and services.
- Delegate and supervise paraprofessional(s) assigned within the classroom.
- Function as a team player, delivering individualized and small group instruction and co‑teaching in a team environment.
- Collect data and apply strong behavior management techniques.
- Attend and participate in parent meetings and relevant after‑school and/or evening activities.
- Supervise and evaluate paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom.
- Support building‑level and district policies.
- Administer MAP/EOC/MAP‑A assessments.
- Certification in K‑12 Special Education, cross categorical.
- Knowledge and expertise in working with various eligibility categories.
- Preferred previous experience in a co‑teaching and/or resources setting.
- Training in behavior management (preferred).
- Minimum of three years teaching experience (preferred).
- Competent technical skills.
- Regular attendance and positive interpersonal relationships with staff, parents, and students.
- Knowledge of appropriate grade‑level and functional curriculum associated with the position.
- Knowledge of Missouri Assessment Program (MAP‑A) (preferred).
- Willingness to be trained in use of seclusion, isolation, and restraint procedures.
- Willingness to understand and support the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.
- Successful completion of background check and drug test satisfactory to the Board of Education.
