Jr. High Science Teacher (Grades 7 and
8) Primary Tasks & Major Activities

Responsible for planning lessons, engaging the learner through novel and insightful instruction, and evaluating student progress toward learning goals. Accountable for creating a positive and productive classroom learning environment.

Implementation of the Nixa Junior High science curriculum and the Missouri Learning Standards. Must be able to work effectively as a member of a Professional Learning Community in a team environment. Participate in District and Building Professional Development opportunities. Support the Jr. High Building Improvement Plan and district Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.

Missouri certification in Science at the 7-8 grade level. A strong knowledge of the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP), Missouri Learning Standards, and effective instructional strategies. Experiences in middle school instruction are preferred. Willingness to collaborate with peers. Willingness to understand and support the District's Comprehensive School Improvement Plan. Must successfully pass a background check and drug test that are satisfactory to the Board of Education.
