Payroll Specialist – Niles, Michigan

Salary Range: $46,000 – $58,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

About the Company and Payroll Specialist Opportunity

CFS is partnering with a well-established organization in Niles, Michigan to hire a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with state and federal payroll regulations.

The Payroll Specialist will manage all aspects of payroll processing, collaborate with HR and finance teams, and support audits and reporting. This is a great opportunity for someone who is organized, tech-savvy, and looking to grow within a stable company.

Position:
Fully in-office in Niles, MI |

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Key Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist
  • Process bi-weekly or weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

  • Maintain payroll records, employee data, and timekeeping information

  • Verify hours worked, wage adjustments, bonuses, deductions, and benefit contributions

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal wage and hour laws, tax requirements, and reporting standards

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll procedures

  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare reports for finance and HR teams

  • Assist with payroll tax filings and year-end reporting (W-2s, 1099s, etc.)

  • Support audits and internal reviews as needed

Qualifications for the Payroll Specialist
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or related field preferred

  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience required

  • Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, or similar) and Microsoft Excel

  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and reporting requirements

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Location: On-site in Niles, Michigan | Salary Range: $46,000 – $58,000 annually
