General PurposeThe Retail Associate ensures customers receive a welcoming, friendly, and efficient shopping experience. Duties include greeting guests, assisting with merchandise, handling transactions, maintaining store presentation, performing cleaning and merchandising tasks, and supporting safety and loss‑prevention efforts.
Essential Functions- Maintain safety as the top priority and report unsafe conditions.
- Stand in good posture, maintain clear egress, and correct clutter promptly.
- Engage customers with eye contact, smiles, and courteous greetings.
- Assist customers at the register, answer questions, and process transactions accurately.
- Respond to customer service inquiries, resolve issues, and involve leadership when needed.
- Represent Ross’s brand and values consistently.
- Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, and restocking restrooms.
- Maintain a professional appearance, and follow the company dress code.
- Handle product “sizing” and “recovery” daily to keep organization standards.
- Expedite new merchandise to the sales floor, ensuring proper presentation and brand familiarity.
- Understand and follow Loss Prevention, Shortage Highway, and Store Protection Specialist policies.
- Safeguard confidential, cash, and merchandise information.
- Execute Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock procedures and merchandise disposal approvals.
- Handle cash, check, credit card, refunds, voids, and other transactions accurately.

- Basic math skills for retail transactions.
- Operate all store equipment (registers, PDA, PC).
- Stand, walk, and move around 100% of the working time.
- Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, lift over 25 lb.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, etc.
- Stockroom shifts: periodically lift over 20 lb.

Base Pay Range$15.00 – $15.50 per hour, dependent on experience, qualifications, and location.
