£450 500/day (Outside IR35)

A hands‑on, high‑impact contract role taking ownership across the full software lifecycle while modernising a core web portal suite and moving toward a cloud‑native architecture.

• Lead development and evolution of customer-facing web portals hosted on WP Engine
• Bridge product vision and technical delivery, translating business needs into scalable solutions
• Shape architecture, tooling, and engineering standards with high autonomy and influence

• Collaborate with product and commercial teams to turn requirements into technical solutions
• Provide pragmatic input into roadmap and architecture decisions
• Deliver full‑stack enhancements from UI to database and infrastructure
• Maintain high standards for performance, scalability, security, and accessibility (including GDPR)
• Support re‑platforming to modern cloud‑native architecture
• Improve codebase structure, deployment pipelines, and platform scalability
• Introduce and embed best practices across development and Dev Ops
• Optimise and maintain MS SQL Server and MySQL environments
• Improve data flows, integrations, and platform performance
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines using Git Hub and support automated/containerised deployments
• Work across cloud environments including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure

• Expert PHP and SQL with strong JavaScript/Type Script
• Advanced HTML5/CSS3 and experience with Azure SQL Server & MySQL
• Strong CI/CD and modern development workflow experience

• Laravel, React, or Python
• Postgre

• Legacy integrations (VBScript, Power Query)
• Data lake technologies such as Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, or Azure One Lake
• Cloud‑native architecture across AWS and Azure

• Comfortable acting as primary technical owner in a small, high‑performing team
• Enjoys full‑stack ownership and influencing architecture
• Thrives in scale‑up/SME environments with shifting priorities
• Proactive problem‑solver and strong communicator across technical and non‑technical stakeholders
