Transformation & Value PMO Project Manager
This post is Fixed Term for 24 months due to funding.
The post holder will be the Project Manager for specific projects and have overall responsibility for the integrity and coherence of Projects to which they are assigned.
Support the Senior Manager Transformation & Value to deliver the relevant programmes in the portfolio through the effective management of a PMO function of key projects within that programme, which ensures through appropriate governance structures, driving PMO functions, embeds values-based healthcare across programmes by focusing on improving quality and making best use of our resource, and managing risk and issues and ensures appropriate tracking and escalation to realise the intended benefits.
Mainduties of the job
Manage projects from start-up through to closure, working closely and co-operatively with stakeholders in accordance with governance procedures. This includes developing and maintaining project plans and progress, stakeholder engagement, management of risks and issues.
- Identify and track benefits of projects and programmes across the portfolio to ensure the impact of change is understood, identifying areas of escalation if projects are not identifying impact. This will involve working with Transformation Programme Managers and Project Support Officers to manage governance arrangements, across the portfolio, including agenda setting, follow-up and action tracking.
- Manage the Transformation and Value PMO function, supporting the Senior Manager Transformation & Value, ensuring robust programme management and delivery and intended outcomes and realisation of benefits.
- Support embedding values-based healthcare principles across all Transformation programmes and projects, under the direction of the Senior Manager.
- Manage and maintain risk and issue reporting across the portfolio liaising with Transformation Programme Managers and Project Support Officers for updates and escalation, as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, aligned to strategic priorities.

Job responsibilitiesManage the portfolio documentation library co-ordinating documentation, reporting and filing in line with good practice. Support with and lead on stakeholder engagement across programmes and projects. Ensure that key project milestones are met by taking direct responsibility to ensure that each aspect gets off to a controlled start, progress is controlled and that the project has a controlled end. Develop robust project governance arrangements in line with those of the programme i.e. Capital Procedures and Standard Financial Instructions to ensure an auditable project file is maintained.
Set up and maintain project information systems that will also require the production of project related reports. Ensure timely, high-quality reports are produced to meet reporting requirements for projects. Ensure that stakeholders are involved and represented in all stages of the project process as appropriate. This will require the presentation of complicated project information to Directors, managers and staff. The use of persuasive skills will be necessary when the importance of the project is not accepted and there are potentially sensitive issues regarding performance.
Working with Organisation Development and Communication and Engagement colleagues, support defining appropriate communication plans and stakeholder engagement including the production of marketing materials and creation /maintenance of web-based information e.g . intranet/internet. Deal with potentially contentious and controversial matters with tact and diplomacy, while ensuring that decisions are made in an open and transparent manner based on the evidence available.
Take decisions on a range of complex project issues where there may be more than one course of action. Monitor, analyse and assess project progress, taking corrective action where necessary to resolve problems and performance issues to keep to the plan. Prepare project…
