Responsibilities:

The Accounting Supervisor supports the Director of Business & Finance by overseeing and performing complex accounting functions in the District's financial operations. This position ensures the accuracy, integrity and compliance of financial data, supervises accounting staff, and assists in maintaining appropriate accounting controls and procedures for all District financial activities. The Accounting Supervisor plays a key role in supporting efficient Business Office operations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.

All work is performed under the direction of the Director of Business & Finance.

Specific responsibilities will include:

* Oversees and assists with payroll, accounts payable, benefits accounting, and general ledger activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

* Works directly with payroll staff, ensuring accuracy and timely processing of bi-weekly employee compensation, deductions, and reporting.

* Provides supervision, guidance, and training to business office staff; serves as a backup for payroll, benefits, accounts payable, and general accounting functions.

* Monitors and reviews accounting transactions, journal entries, budget transfers, and account coding in accordance with district policy and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

* Prepares, analyzes, and maintains financial reports, reconciliations, and documentation required for audits, grants, and compliance purposes.

* Prepares month-end financial analyses, including account reviews, reconciliations, and reporting to support accurate and timely closing.

* Assists with year-end closing and audit preparation, including reconciliations, documentation, and coordination for the annual audit.

* Supports the Director of Business & Finance in the development of long- and short-term financial plans, annual budgets, forecasts, and related financial documentation.

* Supports financial planning by tracking and forecasting expenditures and encumbrances.

* Assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.

* Collaborates with other departments to ensure accurate financial information, adherence to policies and support for district initiatives.

* Prepares presentations and financial analyses for the Board of Education, administration, and other committees as requested.

* Oversight on cafeteria & transportation operations as needed.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or related field.

* Minimum 3 years of work experience in school district or municipal finance department preferred.

* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

* Experience with eGMS (Education Grant Management System) preferred.

* Knowledge of the development, implementation, and accounting controls in all financial and business-related operations.

* Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to school business administration, and educational finance operations.

* Knowledge of best practices in the implementation of financial management information systems.

* Excellent interpersonal, planning, organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate others.

* Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve results, building robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
