Position: Equipment Installation Mechanical Technician IV-- KAUDC5763811

We are seeking a senior-level Equipment Installation Mechanical Technician IV to lead and execute complex mechanical equipment installations within a manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on technical leadership
, ensuring installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with engineering specifications and project timelines.

The technician will support engineering projects focused on capacity expansion, production line installations, and equipment debugging
, while mentoring junior technicians and collaborating closely with engineering, vendors, and project teams.

Schedule:
Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Occasional Overtime

Responsibilities Equipment Installation & Technical Execution
  • Lead mechanical installation of manufacturing equipment and production lines.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, and installation manuals
    .
  • Perform advanced mechanical tasks including rigging, leveling, precision alignment, torqueing, piping, and system integration
    .
  • Troubleshoot installation issues, equipment malfunctions, and mechanical interferences.
  • Align, test, and calibrate equipment after installation.
  • Ensure installations meet OEM specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards
    .
Leadership & Coordination
  • Act as Lead Technician directing installation crews and subcontractors.
  • Assign tasks, monitor project progress, and optimize use of labor and resources.
  • Provide hands-on training and mentorship to junior technicians.
  • Serve as the technical liaison between engineers, project managers, vendors, and field teams
    .
  • Support engineering projects related to capacity additions and equipment installations
    .
  • Lead debugging activities and implement mechanical solutions for manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist with project planning, installation sequencing, and scheduling
    .
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to resolve technical issues.
Quality & Documentation
  • Conduct installation inspections and quality checks.
  • Maintain installation reports, checklists, and as-built documentation.
  • Support equipment startup, testing, and operational handover
    .
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Maintain and promote safe work practices on project sites.
  • Lead installation and debugging activities to meet project milestones.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems such as pumps, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics
    .
  • Analyze mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Develop and update engineering and operations documentation.
  • Support training of operations teams on equipment changes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety
    .
Required Qualifications Education
  • Associate’s Degree preferred
  • High School Diploma with significant hands‑on experience will be considered
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience installing manufacturing equipment
  • Experience with equipment startup, debugging, and line installation
  • Experience in fast‑paced manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Proven ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Experience leading installation teams or crews
Required Skills
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and installation skills
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gear systems, and conveyors
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and mechanical schematics
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards
  • Experience with CMMS systems
Preferred / Desired Skills
  • Hands‑on experience with commercial manufacturing equipment
  • Project leadership or project management experience
  • Vendor and supplier coordination experience
  • Experience with CAD tools
  • Familiarity with SAP, Maximo, or maintenance systems
  • Mechatronics experience
Certifications (Preferred)
  • Mechatronics Trades Certification
  • Millwright, HVAC, or Welding certifications
  • OSHA or industrial safety certifications
Travel Requirements
  • Work will be performed across Newton, NC and Hickory, NC project sites
Work Schedule
  • 40 hours per week
  • Overtime and occasional off‑hours work may be required depending on project timelines.
