Position ResponsibilitiesThe machine operator is capable of contributing to all phases of the team-oriented production process. This includes the operation of automated production equipment, primary diagnosis of machinery failures, aiding in preventative maintenance, and sanitation of all related equipment. Operators are expected to become fully versed in the entire production process and to rotate job assignments throughout production. They monitor equipment and product according to acceptable standards and make real-time, accurate decisions that affect order fulfillment and product quality.
Operators contribute to maintaining a safe work environment and must master the use of Enterprise software for data input, retrieval, reporting, and other functions. The position requires compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc.). It also includes duties such as fulfilling work schedules, adhering to attendance policies, and performing other tasks deemed integral by management.
The position requires demonstrated competency for activities that may impact product safety, legality and/or quality.
Position Responsibilities
- Check and adhere to production work schedules for job assignments and work reporting times.
- Operate facility metal detector(s) where trained and certified.
- Perform start-up/shut-down sanitation and limited preventative maintenance on machinery.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety rules.
- Check and maintain production schedules, running order, and formulas.
- Weigh, scale, and stage ingredients according to standards.
- Ensure all product is loaded into proper containers.
- Perform quality control inspections and monitor for acceptable governmental and company standards.
- Provide scheduled breaks for Machine Operators on assigned shift as needed.
- Operate as a contributing member of a high-functioning team.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years’ experience as a technician and/or formal training with certificate of completion. Experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; welding, electronics, electrical repairs, industrial equipment installations, alignment, start-up repairs, etc.
- Two (2) years as machine operator in a manufacturing environment with documented responsibilities. Or six (6) months as a Production Helper, with a good work/disciplinary/attendance record.
Essential
Job Requirements
High School diploma or equivalency (GED) plus additional no less than 9 to 12 months of vocational/technical certification courses. Equivalent military training with DD214, other related technical training, or one or more years of college education (minimum 45 earned college credits) may be substituted for vocational technical training. Completion of the AIB correspondence course may also satisfy requirements.
