OVERVIEW

Responsible for overseeing in‑plant operations at the assigned customer. This includes maintaining operating expenses, employee development, employee performance monitoring, implementing standard procedures, KPI reporting, vacation coverage scheduling, and Safety. This exempt level position will manage 6+ employees at the customer site(s) and requires strong customer relation, negotiation, and flexible management skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Support the Regional In‑plant Manager in maintaining efforts and consistency regarding all in‑plant operational processes, KPIs, and standards of excellence—incorporating advanced process improvements methodology.
  • Lead, direct, and supervise reporting personnel, including work procedures, workloads, and work schedules to promote productive efficiency.
  • Act as point person for operational in‑plant matters for the customer and Sun Chemical, coordinating with Sales and CTS to ensure proper technical support.
  • Identify developmental needs of employees, coach, mentor, train, or otherwise help others improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Ensure a safe working environment, oversee compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations, and assist with accident/injury investigations.
  • Complete in‑plant personnel performance management reviews, working closely with Regional Manager and HR regarding employee relation matters.
  • Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives with customers and Sun personnel (In‑plant and Press), supporting major operational improvement projects such as press throughput, decreased color downtime, inventory management, and print quality improvements.
  • Support new customer trials and provide press‑side support on technical issues.
  • Achieve subject‑matter expert level knowledge of Sun’s product offering through communication with CTS or product specialists and training.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Technical degree (BS) or equivalent industry experience.
  • 10+ years of general industry management experience and 5+ years of printing or chemical industry experience.
  • Experience with dispensing software platforms (Novaflow, SPEC, Mixmaster, etc.).
  • Experience with color‑matching technologies (X‑Rite, Sun Color Box, etc.).
  • Strong ink‑room and printing process knowledge.
  • Customer‑facing position requiring strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written communication skills for reporting.
  • Ink‑room or fluids‑management experience is a plus.
