Overview
Terra Bella Senior Living is the operator of more than 30 communities across the Carolinas, Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia, and Tennessee. Terra Bella communities include Active Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and short-term Respite Care, totaling over 2200 units.
Terra Bella Senior Living is looking for a Care/Medication Technician to join Terra Bella Newton. The Care Giver/Med Tech role provides hands-on care and physical and emotional support to residents while maintaining a safe, home-like environment.
Responsibilities- Care Giver: manage a designated group of residents during the shift, knowing their locations and checking on them throughout the shift.
- Observe, report, and document symptoms and conditions (skin, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary intake, and activity participation).
- Respond to security system alerts and resident call bells promptly.
- Notify supervisor or Health Care Coordinator if a resident requires increased care.
- Assist with continence management and dispose of continence products to ensure sanitation of resident suites and community restrooms.
- Serve and collect food trays; report meal refusals or loss of appetite.
- Maintain cleanliness of residents’ rooms and work areas.
- Practice standard care precautions for cleanliness, hygiene, and health.
- Help residents maintain independence and safety, promoting dignity and physical safety.
- Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, eating) as instructed.
- Engage residents in life skills and enrichment activities.
- Greet and assist internal and external customers, guests, family members, residents, vendors, and team members.
- Perform resident laundry as assigned.
- Review service plans to learn pertinent information about residents.
- Assist/observe medications and treatments using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
- Document medication administration, including refusals or missed doses.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident information, including medication details.
- Report resident concerns to the Nurse or Health Care Coordinator when assisting with medications.
- Restock medication carts after passes.
- Assist in checking medications regardless of packaging system.
- Count narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
- Maintain and clean the Medication Room, med charts, and treatment carts; ensure medications are available and up to date, including expired meds.
- Follow the re-fill process for medications.
- Participate in developing the Service Plan and monthly updates.
- Take and record temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse, and respiration.
- Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharps, and hazardous chemicals immediately.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Certified Nurse’s Aide certification preferred.
- High School diploma/GED
- Must be 18 years of age.
- CPR Certification preferred
- First Aid Certification preferred
- Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
