Job Summary
Newton-Wellesley Hospital (Mass General Brigham) is recruiting an Occupational Therapist for the Acute Care Service, 36 hours per week. This role requires day, evening, holiday shifts, and at least one weekend day per month.
Key Responsibilities- Perform patient examinations, develop treatment plans, and establish goal‑oriented interventions with patient input.
- Apply and follow up on interventions across acute care, acute rehabilitation, and home care settings.
- Manage an independent caseload, providing care to adult med/surg patients, general and complex medical, post‑op orthopedics, vascular surgery, ICU, and Emergency Department patients.
- Collaborate closely with occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other members of the clinical and non‑clinical care team.
- Adapt to evolving priorities, provide outstanding customer service, and uphold the mission of Inpatient Rehab Services and NWH.
- Conduct assessments of patients’ physical, mental, and developmental abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and implement them, adjusting as needed.
- Provide education to patients and families about therapeutic activities and home exercises.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and physical therapists to deliver comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records.
- Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, and professional development activities.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy or higher (required). - License:
Current State Occupational Therapist license. - Experience:
At least 1 year of clinical experience in acute care, acute rehabilitation, or home care; new graduates with relevant experience may be considered. - Skills:
Ability to work effectively with patients and colleagues, knowledge of medical terminology, strong time‑management, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills. - Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Standing 34‑66 %, Walking 34‑66 %, Sitting 3‑33 %, Lifting 35 lbs+ (with assist), Carrying 35 lbs, Pushing/Pulling 3‑33 %, Climbing/Balancing/Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling/Reaching/Fine Manipulation/Wheelchair Use/Ocular/Foley/Other as described.
CompensationAnnual salary range: $74,547.20 – $ (Grade 6). Total compensation includes base pay, benefits, and potential bonuses.
