Patient Care Associate II - Emergency Department

Job Summary

Under the direction of a registered/licensed nurse (RN), the Nursing Assistant assists in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment.

• Perform patient care-related duties and clinical functions as assigned, including point-of-care documentation, vital signs, EKGs, bathing, ambulation assistance, feeding, and other sanitary needs of patients.
• Assist RNs and physicians with examinations and treatments as required.
• Ensure patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately as patient volumes change.
• Perform specimen collection and document all appropriate information.
• Retrieve equipment from other areas, set up equipment, clean equipment between patient use, and report malfunctioning equipment per organizational policy.
• Document patient information such as height, weight, fluid intake, output, and blood glucose results.
• Assist patients with food tray setup and eating if necessary.
• Communicate with nursing staff in an effective and timely manner around issues related to patient care and patient condition.
• Receive and direct Medical Staff, personnel, patients, and visitors.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS Certification) preferred.
• Nursing Assistant (LNA) preferred by New Hampshire Board of Nursing.
• Healthcare experience 1-2 years required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, typing skills, computer experience, interpersonal and communication skills, and safe patient handling guidelines required.

36hr Nights – 7p-7:30a x3, every other weekend and rotating holidays. Onsite at 2014 Washington Street, Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

$17.71 - $25.28/Hourly
