Overview

Mass General Brigham – Newton‑Wellesley Hospital – is recruiting a per‑diem physical therapist for an acute care/inpatient setting. The role covers weekday and weekend shifts with broad weekday availability and at least two weekend shifts per month.

Responsibilities
  • Provide adult medical/surgical physical therapy to general and complex medical patients, post‑op orthopedics, post‑op general and vascular surgery, ICU, Emergency Department, and other areas as needed.
  • Perform examinations and evaluations, develop plans of care, and provide recommendations for ongoing therapy needs during hospitalization and post‑discharge.
  • Apply interventions during follow‑up visits and independently manage a patient assignment.
  • Complete billing sheets accurately by end of day and participate in hospital‑wide quality process improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nursing personnel, and other members of the clinical and non‑clinical care team.
  • Adapt to evolving requests and priorities during the workday and demonstrate strong customer service skills.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited physical therapy program. For licensure post‑2016, a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program is required.
  • At least one year of clinical experience in acute care, acute rehab, or home care clinical settings is preferred; new graduates with acute care or acute rehab experience will be considered.
  • Current state license as a Physical Therapist; a DPT is preferred.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, case management, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and related accreditation and certification requirements.
