Job Summary

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating, and assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

Essential Functions (Key

Roles & Responsibilities )
  • Perform patient care-related duties and clinical functions including vitals, EKGs, bathing, transferring, ambulation, 1:1 observation, and phlebotomy.
  • Assist RNs and physicians with other exams and treatments as required.
  • Complete all documentation such as height, weight, intake of fluids and food, output of urine/stool/vomit/other drainage, and blood glucose results in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Assist patients with food tray setup, eating, and feeding if necessary.
  • Ensure patient rooms are stocked, equipped, and cleaned appropriately, as needs indicate.
  • Retrieve equipment from other areas, set up equipment, clean equipment between patient use, and report malfunctioning equipment per policy.
  • Assist with admitting and discharging patients.
  • Facilitate orientation of new PCA team members as directed.
  • Interact with patients, visitors, and other care team members effectively.
  • Communicate with nursing staff in an effective and timely manner about patient care and condition.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting teamwork and professional growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (preferred).
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) License (preferred).
  • Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician national certification (preferred).
Experience

Experience working in patient care/elder care, 0–1 year.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong patient/customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Proficient computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
