Energy & Utilities Analyst, Electrical Engineer

The Energy & Utilities Analyst works under the supervision of a consultant or project manager to develop solutions to technical and economic challenges faced by our energy and utility clients. The role involves power system studies evaluating power plants (fossil and renewable) and delivery systems (transmission and distribution), as well as power supply planning, due diligence, performance and benchmarking evaluations, site assessments, investment planning, condition assessments, financial cost/benefit evaluations, and renewable development.
Responsibilities- Analyze, interpret, and apply engineering, financial, and economic conditions, theories, and principles to complete assigned tasks addressing technical and business implications for client projects.
- Apply basic knowledge of commonly used engineering and financial concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the consulting services industry.
- Assist with analyzing life‑cycle costs by developing and incorporating technical assumptions regarding capital costs, O&M costs, performance estimates, and economic forecasts.
- Assist the project team with technical assessments evaluating impacts of regulatory agency rules.
- Assist with designing, reviewing, and modifying drawings for project requirements set forth by the project managers.
- Support power system planning and operations analysis, including power flow, transient, stability, short‑circuit, electromagnetic transients, reliability, and economic dispatch.
- Perform technical, engineering, economic, and financial studies related to planning and operations for utility projects.
- Support transmission and distribution study analysis using power system software.
- Support engineering, technical, and economic assessments for both fossil and renewable generation.
- Support technical and business‑related risk assessments.
- Support detailed financial analysis using a variety of computer‑based software.
- Support the development of technical reports and presentations summarizing analysis results.
- Support preparation of client presentations, engineering reviews, financial analysis, and contract administration for the design and planning of utility systems.
- Support the Utility Consulting business lines as required by clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all company policies and standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related accredited program (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program (strongly preferred).
- Basic knowledge of standard engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem‑solving environment with demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team‑building, collaboration, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA (strongly preferred).
- Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
- Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States (no restrictions or need for sponsorship).
$90,000.00 – $ per year (base salary). Eligibility to participate in a discretionary year‑end incentive bonus program. Compensation is based on education, qualifications, prior experience, and location.
