Camp Counselor—Theater Team (Summer 2024)

JCC Greater Boston is seeking enthusiastic, caring, and responsible Camp Counselors to join our Theater team this summer. The role involves working with campers grades 4‑8 and assisting with two fully‑staged musical theater productions.

• Welcome campers each morning with energy and enthusiasm.
• Guide groups through activities, rehearsals, choreography, set design, and auditions.
• Support and supervise swimmers, ensuring safety and participation.
• Lead or co‑lead arts, sports, swimming, and other camp activities.
• Assist with set‑up, clean‑up, and maintenance of activity spaces.
• Build inclusive group dynamics, fostering a safe and joyful camp environment.
• Serve as a role model, building relationships and supporting campers’ social and emotional development.

• 10th grade (or equivalent) and eligible for work permit.
• 1+ season of summer camp, babysitting, coaching, or similar experience working with children.
• Strong safety awareness, communication skills, and ability to supervise by the pool.
• Leadership qualities: patience, flexibility, teamwork, and creativity.
• Positive attitude, proactive problem‑solving, and willingness to ask for guidance.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships.
• Proficiency with digital tools such as attendance forms and online time‑keeping.

• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing 30–40 pounds.
• Ability to sit, kneel and get down at eye level with children regularly.
• Ability to swim and supervise children in the pool, including standing in the pool.
• Capacity to work in varying weather conditions for extended periods.

Hourly position, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday‑Friday. 8‑week program from June 22 to August 21, including staff training. Competitive pay range $15‑$17 per hour, paid based on qualifications and internal equity.
