Schedule:

Orientation August 24 & 25, 2026;
School year August 31, 2026 to June 15, 2027. Monday through Friday, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Some required meetings throughout the year are scheduled from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.

The Fessenden School is an all-boys independent day and boarding school serving 540 students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 9 in West Newton, MA. The Upper School Science Teacher is a passionate, innovative, and collaborative educator who engages boys in Grades 7-9 through dynamic, student-centered teaching. This teacher will join a dedicated team to inspire students to think critically about scientific principles and their real-world applications. At Fessenden, we strive to have each classroom foster an inclusive and equitable environment that reflects the School’s mission and core values of honesty, compassion, and respect.

The role involves teaching 4 classes of 12 to 15 boys, collaborating with grade-level teams, and advising a small group of students. The curriculum emphasizes skills including conducting experiments, analyzing data, and engaging in project-based learning (PBL) to deepen students' scientific understanding and critical thinking.

• Teach and Inspire:
  • Design and implement engaging science lessons that bring scientific concepts to life, fostering curiosity and a love for discovery.
  • Ability to teach Earth and Environmental Science, Physical Science, or Biology while leveraging hands‑on experiments to enhance understanding.
  • Foster a dynamic classroom environment where students feel challenged and supported in their learning.

  • Build meaningful connections with students, inspiring confidence, curiosity, and perseverance in scientific exploration.

  • Support extracurricular programs such as coaching sports, facilitating clubs, or leading grade trips.
