About the Camp

Camp Kaleidoscope, a JCC summer day camp in Newton, offers creative campers a blend of arts, science, sports, and outdoor adventures. The atmosphere is lively, playful, and warm, fostering lifelong friendships among campers and staff.

Role:
Office Administrator

The Office Administrator manages the camp office and coordinates family communications throughout the summer.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Work in partnership with camp staff to manage family communications throughout the summer.
  • Manage daily camper attendance logs.
  • Facilitate late drop‑off and early pick‑up of campers as needed.
  • Manage supply inventory and organization.
  • Organize and maintain camp files as needed.
  • Create weekly newsletters and various family communications and reminders.
  • Create a fun and joyful dynamic.
  • Collaborate with peers and Camp Leadership to provide a happy, safe, and memorable summer for the children.
  • Provide ongoing administrative support as needed.

Job Details

Hourly position, daily schedule 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday‑Friday. Starting pay $20 per hour, subject to qualifications and internal equity. The 8‑week camp program runs June 22 – August 21, including staff training. Flexibility for other obligations is welcomed.

Requirements

Education and Experience
  • High school degree required.
  • College degree, concentration, or equivalent certification and experience in business, non‑profit management, or related field preferred.
  • 1+ year experience in customer service or office management.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ability to learn our database.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability and commitment to build strong relationships with campers, parents, co‑workers, and camp leadership.
  • Safety awareness and communication of issues with supervisors.
  • Leadership skills: teamwork, patience, flexibility, and diplomacy.
  • Positive attitude at all times.
  • Self‑starter who takes initiative.
  • Effective situation management and willingness to seek help or clarification.
  • Ability to work well with others, building collaborative relationships.
Physical Requirements
  • Work in a busy, dynamic, often noisy environment with multiple tasks.
  • Work in varied weather conditions for extended periods to ensure camper supervision and safety.
  • Lift and carry objects weighing 30–40 pounds.
  • Sit, kneel, and get down to eye level with children routinely.
