Patient Referral Coordinator (Full Time)

Location: Surgery Center - 800 Medical Center Drive ~ Newton, KS 67114

Category: CLINIC OPERATIONS

We are looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate Patient Referral Coordinator to join our caring care-giving team. In this role, you will act as a key liaison between patients, providers, and insurance carriers to manage referrals, pre-authorizations, and pre-certifications. You will work within our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to ensure timely and accurate communication, while providing exceptional support to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a point of contact for referral and authorization requests from providers.

Monitor, update, and fulfill incoming requests using the EMR system.

Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, providers, and staff.

Accurately collect and document information related to insurance pre-authorizations and referrals.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or GED required.

Associate degree or some college coursework preferred.

Courses in Medical Terminology or healthcare certifications a plus.

Experience with insurance or claims coding is a strong advantage.

Experience:

1-2 years of experience with insurance processes or healthcare authorizations preferred.

Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, data entry, and multi-line phone systems.

Familiarity with medical terminology and office procedures.

Able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks.

High attention to detail, with solid interpersonal and phone etiquette.

Comfortable working independently and following written protocols.

Reliable, punctual, and professional.
