Tooling Project Engineer – Metal stampings
Due to winning significant new business from automotive OEM customers, an experienced Tooling Project Engineer is sought to lead industrialisation and new product introduction activities.
Salary: £45,
Location: Newton Aycliffe
- Lead delivery of tooling projects in line with approved budget, including control of contractors involved.
- Support the initial specification of project related equipment.
- Liaise with NPI and plant teams to ensure smooth introduction of new projects to agreed timing.
- Ensure all trials are conducted in a timely manner and all functions support up to PSW approval.
- Involvement in tooling/equipment buy off/project closure activities.
- Support the quality team on the PPAP process, and all APQP gateways.
- Working closely with Manufacturing Team to ensure timely introduction of plant based projects, D/PFMEA reviews and lessons learnt reviews.
- Significant knowledge of metal stamping/presswork, welded assembly tooling, jigs & fixtures and manufacturing processes.
- Experienced individual with practical project experience able to manage multiple/short lifetime projects ideally within automotive, off‑highway or special purpose vehicle industry.
- Metal stamping/presswork, fabrication, welded/joining assemblies and product assembly highly advantageous, but any manufacturing using tooling for forming processes considered.
- CAD literate to review and analyse tooling solutions.
- Self‑motivated and confident taking responsibility for all areas of work.
- HNC/Degree Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or similar.
- Able to travel throughout UK and Europe to meet suppliers or visit other plants on occasion.
