About the Role
We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive Relational Support Practitioner to work across Fieldstone School in Newton Abbott and our Ashburton site, helping create a safe, supportive and therapeutic learning environment for our students.
As a Relational Support Practitioner, you’ll work closely with the Relational Support Lead and Senior Leadership Team to embed attachment-aware and trauma-informed practice throughout the school. You’ll support staff and students during challenging moments, help facilitate restorative approaches and ensure every interaction reflects empathy, respect and belief in each young person’s potential.
Your work will play a key role in strengthening a therapeutic school culture built on relationships, reflection and restoration.
Key Responsibilities
Respond quickly to support requests across the school, helping to de-escalate situations and support positive behaviour
Model trauma-informed, relational practice and support staff to embed Attachment and Behaviour Regulation approaches
Build positive, trusting relationships with students and act as a consistent role model
Support pupils with SEMH and SEND needs to access learning and engage positively in school life
Deliver targeted interventions and support strategies linked to EHCP outcomes
Promote emotional regulation, independence and confidence in students
Work collaboratively with teaching, pastoral and therapeutic teams to provide consistent support
Monitor behaviour and progress using systems such as CPOMS, contributing to safeguarding and school improvement

Skills & Experience
Experience working with young people with SEMH needs in education, care or support settings
Understanding of attachment, trauma-informed and restorative approaches
Knowledge of SEND and child development principles
Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to observe, record and analyse behaviour effectively
Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills
