We're looking for a passionate experienced Social Workers to join our dedicated team at our Newry and Armagh Family Resource Centre, part of Barnardo's.Our service has been operating for over 30 years and has strong reputation for supporting families through tough times, helping them find strength, stability, and hope.
This is more than a job, it's a chance to make a real difference. You'll work directly with families, carrying out assessments and providing therapeutic support that changes lives.
- Comprehensive assessments of parenting capacity in families where Children are subject to LAC procedures or Child Protection registration.
- Protective parenting assessments.
- Therapeutic, educational, preventative and support services to families where children are deemed to be at risk or in need.
- Individual work with parents and other care givers.
- Hold a professional qualification in Social Work recognised by NISCC & Registered with the NI Social Care Council on appointment.
- Have post-AYE and recent experience in a family and childcare setting across Hardiker levels 3 & 4.
- Experience of undertaking complex childcare assessments and/or court directed work and contributing to statutory decision making forums including the provision of written reports.
- Experience of working therapeutically with children/families effected by adverse experiences e.g. trauma, social disadvantage, family breakdown, parenting difficulties, mental health, domestic violence and substance misuse.
- Experience of applying child protection/safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Hold a full UK driving licence, business insurance and access to a car for work purposes (this criteria will be waived for candidates with a disability who can demonstrate alternative means of meeting the mobility requirements of the post.
Location:
Newry (with travel to Armagh and Dungannon Family Resource Centres, plus occasional travel across the Southern Trust area)
Salary: £35,390.46 to £43,392.02 (FTE)
