Role Overview

The Mechanical Fitter will provide mechanical support across a range of operational projects. The role involves installation, servicing, and repair of mechanical equipment, as well as supporting electrical teams on mechanical aspects of site work.

You will play a key role in maintaining and improving mechanical assets while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and report project progress, highlighting any work outside of scope
  • Test mechanical systems and equipment using appropriate testing devices
  • Inspect mechanical systems and components to identify hazards or faults
  • Assemble, install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment using hand and power tools
  • Carry out mechanical tasks including pump replacement, screen installation, pipework installation, alignments, valve troubleshooting, and fault finding
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance on pumping systems and associated equipment
  • Ensure response times and service requirements are met Support emergency and shutdown works when required
  • Complete point-of-work risk assessments
  • Follow and understand risk assessments and method statements
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and site layouts
Requirements
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
  • Experience with in an engineering or mechanical environment
  • CSCS card (or equivalent)
Desirable (not essential):
  • EUSR Water & Sewage
  • PASMA
  • IPAF
  • Confined Space (High Risk)
  • Abrasive Wheels
  • Working knowledge of pumps, pipework, motors, and screening equipment
  • Previous experience working in a site-based engineering environment
  • Strong work ethic with good communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
