Walsingham Farm Shop is an independent, quality‑led farm shop and deli with a strong reputation for excellent food and warm, knowledgeable service. We are a small, professional and highly efficient team who work hard, take pride in what we do, and genuinely enjoy doing it.
An opportunity has arisen for a Deli / Shop Assistant to join us. Roles within our team are rare, as most of our staff are long‑term employees. This vacancy is available due to a valued team member moving on to a new career path.
The RoleThis is a varied and hands‑on position, which can be shaped to suit the right candidate – whether your strengths lean more towards the kitchen/deli environment or the retail shop floor.
Typical responsibilities- Preparing and serving deli products to a high standard
- Supporting food preparation in line with food safety regulations
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation
- Delivering excellent customer service and product knowledge
- Stock rotation, merchandising and product presentation
- Working efficiently during busy trading periods
Customer service and customer satisfaction are central to everything we do. Attention to detail is non‑negotiable.
What We’re Looking ForEssential:
- Previous food industry experience (ideally within a kitchen, deli or food retail environment)
- Previous customer service/handling experience
- Strong understanding of food safety and safe working practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision
- Proactive attitude and strong work ethic
- Availability to work regular weekends – Sundays are essential
Desirable:
- Experience in fresh food preparation
- Interest in local and seasonal produce
- Creative mindset with ideas to contribute to business growth
We are looking for the right personality fit for our existing team. For that reason, our team is heavily involved in the application and interview process – we believe culture and character are just as important as experience.
Working PatternExpected average of 3 days per week
Annualised hours contract (minimum 950 hours per year)
Accrued holiday entitlement on a pro‑rata basis
Monthly pay
Workplace pension scheme
Typical shifts may include- 8:00am – 4:00pm
- 8:30am – 5:15pm
- 9:30am – 4:15pm
- 9:30am – 5:30pm
- 10:00am – 3:00pm
- Weekend availability essential (especially Sundays)
- Additional hours available during peak trading periods
- Summer holidays
- Term and half‑term holidays
- Bank holidays
- The two weeks leading up to Christmas
Availability during these times is essential.
