The Night Shift Production Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining Health & Safety, product quality, operational efficiency, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) across the night shift. The role ensures production targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality, legality, and consistency, and providing strong leadership to night shift teams.
Key Responsibilities Production & Operations ManagementManage daily night shift production processes to ensure efficiency and output targets are achieved.
Ensure all products are prepared and produced in line with specifications and quality standards.
Deliver production schedules while meeting quality, efficiency, and service level targets.
Control ingredient and packaging flow to achieve yield targets and minimise waste.
Maintain strong housekeeping standards to ensure waste is controlled and kept to a minimum.
Quality, Food Safety & ComplianceEnsure full compliance with GMP, hygiene standards, and food safety requirements.
Verify daily operations and records within areas such as the vegetable washroom.
Ensure all ingredients and mixes are correctly rotated to prevent waste.
Confirm all ingredient containers are clearly batch-coded with correct supplier and use‑by details.
Operate and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cleaning across the production floor.
Monitor product quality and consistency, reporting any issues that may impact standards immediately.
People Management & TrainingProvide first‑line support to night shift operatives to ensure smooth daily operations.
Monitor, train, and support both new and existing night shift employees.
Work closely with Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Production Line Leaders to maintain workflow efficiency.
Promote punctuality, accountability, and adherence to procedures across the shift.
Cross-Functional CollaborationLiaise with departments such as Quality, Purchasing, and Maintenance to meet service level targets.
Communicate effectively with day shift teams, including kitchen supervisors, mixing operators, and runners, to ensure efficient ingredient supply and correct rotation.
Reporting & AdministrationProvide regular production performance updates and reports to the Manufacturing Manager.
Ensure all production paperwork is completed accurately and on time for each night shift.
Report maintenance, structural, or equipment‑related issues promptly to senior management.
Follow up on special requests such as sampling, additional cleaning, trials, or management directives.
Desired CriteriaStrong understanding of HACCP principles.
Good product knowledge and ability to work to specification.
High level of dexterity, efficiency, and speed of work.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Reliable and punctual with a professional approach to work.
