This is a superb opportunity for a Qualified by Experience Accountant to step into a hands-on managerial position, combining technical delivery with team leadership. You will take ownership of a varied client portfolio, oversee workflow across the practice, and act as a key point of contact for both clients and junior staff.
The RoleThis is a permanent opportunity within a close-knit practice environment, ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and direct client interaction. You will manage jobs end-to-end, ensuring deadlines and standards are met, while supporting and developing junior team members.
What You Will DoManage a portfolio of clients, delivering accounts preparation and tax compliance work to a high standard
Review work prepared by junior staff, providing clear feedback, guidance, and technical support
Oversee workflow and job scheduling, helping ensure smooth delivery across the team
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting and tax requirements, maintaining strong attention to detail
Build trusted client relationships, understanding needs and offering practical, value-add advice
Support process improvement where appropriate to streamline work and strengthen client service
A relaxed, supportive environment with an open and collaborative culture
Part-time structure: 3-day working week
Real autonomy and ownership over a varied client base
A hands-on managerial remit with scope to shape workflow and support a developing team
Competitive salary, fully negotiable depending on experience
Strong experience across accounts preparation and tax (practice background essential)
Qualified by Experience (QBE) with the capability to operate at Manager level
Comfortable reviewing work and supporting the development of junior staff
Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
Confident communicator with a client-focused approach
