About STATSports What if the product you helped to build next week was worn by an elite athlete the week after?

Contract:

Full-Time, Permanent

Desired

Start Date:

February/March

At STATSports, that could be your reality. Since 2007, we’ve grown from a small Irish start-up into the global leader in GPS performance tracking, trusted by the world’s biggest clubs, leagues, and athletes. Our technology sits at the intersection of hardware, software, and sport, helping teams optimise performance, reduce injury risk, and unlock insights that were previously impossible. But just as importantly, our products support the next generation of athletes, from academies to grassroots, giving them access to the same performance tools as the pros.

Innovation has always driven us forward, and it’s our people who make that happen.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an Electronics Technician to join our Engineering team, supporting returns diagnostics, incoming QA sampling, and R&D test work across STATSports wearables and infrastructure hardware. This is a hands‑on, bench‑based role where you’ll work with wearable pods, docking stations, and communication beacons. You’ll diagnose faults, carry out testing and rework, and support early‑stage product development – helping ensure our hardware meets the quality and reliability standards expected at the elite level.

What

You’ll Be Doing
  • Diagnosing returned units and identifying faults at the product, sub‑assembly, and PCB level
  • Running functional checks on wearable pods, docking stations, and communication beacons
  • Carrying out incoming QA sampling for production batches, including visual inspection, traceability checks, and basic electrical measurements
  • Recording defects clearly and supporting containment and corrective actions
  • Supporting repair and rework activities, including soldering and de‑soldering, connector and cable repairs, approved component replacement, and final verification
  • Supporting prototyping and early build activities under Engineering guidance
  • Assembling early builds and EVT units, including mechanical parts, seals, gaskets, wiring looms, and small harnesses
  • Preparing samples, accessories, and fixtures for new product testing
  • Running test scripts and checklists, capturing results accurately, and re‑testing units after fixes or updates
  • Maintaining clear records, including fault descriptions, test logs, photos, parts used, and unit disposition
  • Operating with good lab discipline, including ESD controls, safe tool use, battery handling procedures, and bench organisation
  • Working closely with Engineering, Production, and Customer Support teams, sharing clear updates and escalating issues with evidence
What We’re Looking For
  • Have a junior to mid‑level technical qualification in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related discipline
  • Comfortable with detailed bench work and have strong manual skills
  • Can solder through‑hole and basic SMD components (fine‑pitch experience is a bonus, not a requirement)
  • Can assemble and disassemble small electronic products carefully, following correct torque and handling practices
  • Have a basic ability to read schematics and follow test instructions
  • Understand common electronic components and their functions
  • Comfortable using basic lab equipment such as multimeters and bench power supplies
  • Take traceability and documentation seriously, keeping clean and accurate records
  • Learn well under supervision, take feedback positively, and continuously improve your work
  • Communicate clearly through written fault reports and test notes
Nice To Have (but Not Essential)

Experience in areas such as oscilloscopes, ESD‑controlled environments, lithium battery‑powered devices, production sampling, defect classification, RF hardware, or supporting test fixtures and jigs is a bonus but not required.

What’s In It For You
  • A genuinely hands‑on role working on real products used in elite sport
  • Exposure to returns diagnostics, QA sampling, repair, and early‑stage R&D builds
  • Opportunities to build strong practical electronics skills across multiple product types
  • Collaboration with Engineering, Production, and Customer Support teams
  • A supportive environment that values learning,…
