Summary

This is a great opportunity for someone to start their accountancy career. You will be based in an office and attend college to study your AAT qualification which will then progress to ACCA/ACA. You will have professional communication skills and computer skills and will be looking to work in a business work environment.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.

What you’ll do at work
  • Processing payments, invoices, income and receipts and entering data into XERO
  • Uploading receipts and invoices into DEXT
  • Following company internal processes
  • Communicating with HMRC with various tax issues. i.e. time to pay
  • Communicating with clients on a daily basis
  • Answering phone calls
  • Managing busy inbox and delegating to relevant client managers
  • Preparing financial statements showing business income and expenditure
  • Paying vendor invoices and tracking bank account balances
  • Regular bookkeeping for clients
  • Completing VAT returns
  • Recording any inconsistencies to help the Client Managers reconcile inaccuracies
  • Developing monthly financial statements including cash flow, profit and loss and balance sheets
  • Preparing and processing payrolls
  • Credit control for some clients
  • Helping the Client Manager's with administrative duties and preparing yearly accounts
  • Ad hoc duties required by senior stakeholders

What you’ll learn

Course contents

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

The successful candidate will be required to attend weekday courses, once a week, at First Intuition to study towards their AAT Level 2 qualification as well as mentoring towards the Level 2 Apprenticeship knowledge, skills, and behaviours.

Requirements Essential qualifications

GCSE in:
English and Maths (grade 4/C or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
